Focus: The Development of Inquiry-Based Learning Skills

Goal: to encourage the development of students' self-directed learning skills through increased interactive learning opportunities using the SmartBoard


Plan:

  • work together to become more knowledgeable and proficient in the use of Smart Notebook technology


  • collect and develop Smart Board resources, lessons and presentations to be used in daily classroom learning activities

  • make resources available to all staff by posting them in the shared portion of the staff folder


Posts:

November - December :

  • We met three times, and explored resources available within Notebook software, particularly the activity toolkit
  • We experimented with some tools gathered online, particularly the "quiz show buzzer"

January - February:

  • We met two times as the SmartBoard Club in Jennifer's room to further experiment with the activity toolkit, particularly photocapture and adding sound clips and animations to notebook files

March 25, 2011:

  • We attended the afternoon portion of the professional development session in Veteran presented by Carmen Slemp. Carmen presented a number of Web 2.0 applications that teachers and students can use to provide an infrastructure for more dynamic participation, social interaction and collaboration. These included Week in Rap, Kerpoof, Blabberize, and Wallwisher.
