The Battle of the Bands was a success. Six student band and three "headliner" bands played to a full house at in the Fine Arts Center. There is a big list of Thank You's that need to be included:

1. Jr. and Sr. Students Union Members: Our presidents Bailee and Colby did an excellent job Judging. Kelsey and Brooke were right on as the event MCees. Our Security, Stage/Sound Crew, and Hosting Team were all top notch.

2. Thanks to the Travel Club for providing the canteen services.

3. Thanks to Mrs. Davies, Mr. Tulien, and Mr. Bourassa for all their behind the scenes work with the volunteers and to Mrs. Radefeldt for the awesome back stage passes. Thanks to Mrs Schaffer for helping us out with our finances, the custodians, Mr. Mellom for attending, and to all the support from the rest of the staff.

It was a lot of work but as a school we looked really good in the eyes of the community and surrounding area. Here is some feedback we received:

Good morning Boyd:
I just wanted to take a couple of minutes to thank you for the amazing job on hosting "Battle of the Bands".
Our students are still buzzing over the event this morning and the students not able to attend are all viewing the performance on Youbue. Events like these are critical in connecting students (who many normally not have any connection) to our schools. I know it must of been a huge amount of work to organize such a big event but I wanted to let you know, it was time well invested. We really appreciate your efforts.

Thank you also Brian for making your school available...... just need to work on the driving conditions on the way home....yuck.

thanks again;

steve. (Principal of Delia School)

Looks like this last weekend was a smashing success. .... Anyway, I heard all about it and congrats on the big show. Kids said they thought the lighting was professional and really enjoyed themselves. Good job and I will talk to you later.

Thanks to Karen M and Kelsey for the write up in the Consort Enterprise.

We have a date for our next BOTB- It's Friday, June 10th and we already have 10 student bands indicating they want to particiapte (4 from Consort) so it looks like we are in for another round of exciting growth in the musical skills and experience of our students.

Stay tuned for more as they Semester progresses. There were definitely many valuable lessons learned and hopefully then next one will be just as successful.

We had the test for the web cast and were blocked by issues with getting the laptops to recognize the video camera we had. On further investigation, it was found the the Sony camera we had has know issues with this...so the lesson is to make sure your hardware will work. Boyd
